847 Kodak Dr. in Silver Lake
List Price $749,000
2 bedrooms • 1 bathroom
1245 sq ft • 4,927 sq ft lot
Tracy Do Real Estate presents a home that’s as Mid-Century Modern as it gets: a Silver Lake residence built in 1950 by an architect who lived here for many years.
The second, current owner implemented a subtle and tasteful restoration, updating the home while keeping its original character intact. It now awaits just its third owner, who will surely appreciate the modern lines, careful craftsmanship and fun, surprising details that make this house so great.
From the front porch enter a living room that features wood-paneled walls and a brick fireplace. Tall windows gather lots of light creating a sense of openness that flows into the dining room and kitchen.
Original built-in cabinetry fills the walls…
And vintage wallpaper lines the ceiling.
Two generously-proportioned bedrooms include more of these cool built-ins, with more out in the hallway for bonus storage. There’s a laundry room, a two car garage and unexpected flourishes like fold-down air vents and colored-glass pocket doors. (Don’t forget to ask about the hidden safe).
Through sliding glass doors you’ll find the back patio, a great place for morning coffee or entertaining friends. The shopping, dining and nightlife of Sunset Junction are just a few blocks away.
For a more detailed photo tour, head to the property website — here. The home will be open next weekend, or you can arrange a private showing by contacting us at Tracy Do Real Estate.

Big (and Extremely Good) News for NELA
To call this huge, and a game-changer for the already red-hot neighborhoods of Northeast LA, would be understatement. As the LA Times’ Louis Sahagun reports: “Federal officials gave a major boost Wednesday to the city’s plans to turn the Los Angeles River into an urban oasis for recreation… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said it has decided to recommend approval of an ambitious, $1-billion proposal to restore habitat, widen the river, create wetlands and provide access points and bike trails along an 11-mile stretch north of downtown through Elysian Park.“
Head over to LACurbed for a breakdown of what this all means — but in a word? It’s good. Really good. We’re particularly excited to hear that the “starting point” for this revitalization is likely to be Taylor Yard, a huge, long-abandoned rail depot that is just one mile from the beautiful new homes at NELA Union Modern Homes. These gorgeous, intelligently engineered residences are an exclusive offering from Tracy Do Real Estate. Prices for a new 2-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home start in just the high $400,000’s.
There has never been a better time to buy a home in Northeast LA. From Eagle Rock to Atwater Village, Mount Washington to Glassell Park, we’re experts in the area and would love to show you around.
Contact us anytime at Tracy Do Real Estate. NELA Union is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5pm, and weekdays by appointment. Learn more at www.nelaunion.com.

This Weekend at TDRE: NELA Union
Entering our third weekend of sales at NELA Union Modern Homes in Glassell Park, we couldn’t be happier with the way things are going. People are coming from across the street and across town to check out these brand new residences, each featuring three levels of living space, attached two-car garages, private second-floor balconies and loads of state-of-the-art technology.
Our visitors tour the three beautiful model homes we have on display and nearly all of them ask the same question: how did you make them so quiet? The answer comes in the remarkable level of care and effort that the builder, Warmington Residential, put into the acoustic engineering of each individual residence. For example, every piece of glass in your NELA Union home is double or triple paned. That’s not only great for sound dampening, it’s energy-efficient too. And it’s merely one component among many that make your NELA Union home comfortable and quiet.
But really you just have to see — and hear — these homes for yourselves. We’re open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, and Memorial Day by appointment. Contact us anytime on our website, or at Tracy Do Real Estate. Hope to see you here.

Home Sales Rise in April
The market had cooled in March, but apparently April is another story. The LA Times’ Andrew Khouri reports that “sales of newly built single-family homes surged 6.4%.” Interest rates might have something to do with it; they’re still quite low which is obviously great for home buyers. Observes Brad Hunter, chief economist at researcher Metrostudy: “Buyers are gradually moving off the fence.”
